Christian Counseling
What is Christian Counseling?
Counseling from a faith-based perspective goes by different names. Some call it Biblical Counseling. Some call it Christian Counseling. Others have referred to it as Spiritual Direction. All of these are different forms of Counseling from a Christian perspective. They are different in their own ways. Here at Legacy Marriage Resources, we just refer to what we offer as Christian Counseling.
Christian Counseling is therapy that uses Biblical principles along with researched therapeutic methods to help a client or couple manage, heal, grow through their struggles. Each technique is used with the foundation of the Bible as the starting point for how to reach the desired goal.
In Christian Counseling, the Bible is the ultimate truth and the reference for how we choose the route of therapy. It is the guide. As the Bible says, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for instruction, for conviction, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, fully equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16). As a counselor, we are trained in gently helping you see the problems in your life and resolve them together.
Is Faith-Based Counseling for me?
Faith-Based counseling is for anyone who want to explore their Christian faith deeper or are having due to concerns with their understanding of Christianity. Couples or individuals that seek Christian counseling are usually wanting their therapy to be informed from a Biblical world view. They usually desire a counselor who believes the same thing they do, or who can at least guide them in the understanding of what the Bible says about their dilemma.
Faith-Based counselors are usually knowledgeable about the Bible and help a client to use the Bible to work through their concerns. If you are seeking therapy that uses the Bible as the basis of truth and uses Scripture to inform you of how to overcome your struggles, then Christian Counseling is for you.
