Michael Hough, Counseling Intern

Hi! I’m Michael Hough, a Mental Health Counseling Intern at Legacy Marriage Resources, serving Evans, GA, Augusta, GA, and the CSRA. I work with individuals, couples, and families, providing therapy services while completing my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University. I currently practice under the clinical supervision of Brandon Coussens, LMFT.

Counseling is a second calling for me, and the road here shapes how I show up in the room. For nearly a decade, I worked with children and teens in applied behavior analysis, where I learned early that meaningful change rarely happens in big moments — it happens in steady, patient work over time. I went on to serve in the United States Air Force, where I earned a certification as a Master Resiliency Trainer and helped fellow service members build the mental tools to navigate stress, transition, and adversity. Along the way, I completed my Bachelor’s in Psychology at the University of Michigan–Flint. I continued building experience as a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu coach for kids, adults, and families. Even more, I have completed my certification as a SYMBIS-certified guide for engaged and newly married couples to provide Premarital Counseling.

What ties all of it together is the same conviction: people grow when they have someone steady beside them. I want to be the kind of presence that lets you tell your story honestly, look squarely at the parts that aren’t working, and begin shaping what comes next. I bring warmth, patience, and deep respect for hard-earned resilience into every session — with particular care for men, service members and veterans, and couples preparing for or strengthening their marriage.
